The Seniors' Home and Yard Maintenance Program is a referral service provided by the Yukon Council on Aging. The Program's goal is to support seniors, elders and disabled persons to remain in their own homes by making available a pool of workers to assist in doing those jobs that every homeowner faces. The price for each job is negotiated directly between the Client (senior homeowner) and the Worker.
Yard job examples:
lawn and yard maintenance including lawn mowing, raking;
cleaning flowerbeds, or gardens;
assisting with planting;
splitting and stacking wood;
minor carpentry or painting;
snow shovelling, and;
window washing.
Home job examples:
vacuuming;
painting;
minor electrical jobs;
minor carpentry jobs, and;
dusting and washing walls.
The price for each job is negotiated directly between the Client and the Worker with $30.00/hour being the minimum and recommended rate of pay. Clients should also note that they may be responsible for providing some or all of the tools required to complete the job.
In an effort to connect Workers and Clients safely, all Worker applicants must have a clean Vulnerable Sector Record Check completed by the RCMP.
